Staying Connected
WhatsApp is the preferred way to communicate on the island. It works over Wi-Fi and avoids international charges, so it’s perfect for staying in touch while you’re here. If you plan to use your regular phone service outside of WhatsApp, most U.S. carriers charge around $10 per day—check with your provider before traveling.

Money Matters
Most restaurants, shops, and services accept Visa and MasterCard (though AMEX is rarely accepted). However, it’s a good idea to bring some cash for things like taxis, ferry rides, and tips. There are no ATMs on the island, so plan accordingly. Both Bahamian and U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere at a 1:1 value.

Don’t Forget Your Passport
All visitors to the Bahamas must have a valid passport. Upon arrival, you’ll need to complete a customs form, which requires the address of your stay. Simply write:

Island Style
The dress code here is as easygoing as the island itself—think swimsuits, sandals, and breezy clothing. Evenings can bring a light breeze, especially in the winter months, so it’s a good idea to pack a jacket or hoodie just in case.

Grocery & Liquor Stores
You’ll find a small grocery store and two liquor stores in the settlement. For a wider selection, we recommend stopping in Marsh Harbour on your way to the ferry terminal. There are two large grocery stores and several liquor stores there. Your taxi driver can help you make a quick stop.

Medical Care
Medical care and pharmacies are limited on the island, so please bring all necessary medications in your carry-on luggage. The nearest hospital is located off-island and would require a flight.
