Remote, Yet Remarkably Easy to Reach

Kalopsia offers the perfect blend of seclusion and accessibility. Despite its off-the-beaten-path feel, getting here is simple. Enjoy direct commercial flights into Marsh Harbour from major U.S. cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Atlanta, and Charlotte.

From there, choose your adventure: hop on one of the multiple daily ferries, charter a private ride to Great Guana Cay, or even arrive by boat from Florida. Prefer to explore by sea once you arrive? Rent a boat locally and start discovering the beauty of the Abacos on your own terms.

Arriving by Boat

If you’re arriving by boat from the U.S. or nearby islands, we’d be delighted to welcome you to Kalopsia by sea. Our marina is located at GPS coordinates 26.653956, -77.090526, and features 16 slips of various sizes. We can accommodate vessels up to 36 feet in length with a maximum beam of 10 feet. To ensure availability, please contact us in advance to reserve your slip.

Don’t have a boat? No problem—boat rentals are available through Dive Guana on Great Guana Cay and Blue Wave in Marsh Harbour. The scenic trip to Kalopsia is approximately 8 miles, but we strongly recommend checking the weather before departure, as the Sea of Abaco can occasionally be choppy.

For larger vessels, there’s a popular anchorage just outside the marina, with a short dinghy ride bringing you right to our docks.

Arriving by Air

Whether you're flying commercial or private, you can fly into Treasure Cay International Airport or Marsh Harbour Airport on Great Abaco Island. Major airlines serving the islands include American, Delta, Bahamasair, and Western.

Customs Info:

Upon arrival, customs permit 2 bottles of wine or liquor per person. Please note that fresh fruits and vegetables are not allowed to be brought in.

Ground Transportation:

Taxis are readily available at the airport—there’s no Uber here. For a smooth arrival, we recommend reaching out to Maryanne Dixon at +1 (242) 577-5200 (WhatsApp only). Feel free to call or message her in advance with your flight details to arrange pickup.

Arriving by Ferry

If you’re flying into the Marsh Harbour Airport, you’ll want to head to the G & L Ferry Dock in the harbour, about a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport. Expect to pay $25–$40 USD, depending on the number of passengers and amount of luggage—plus a tip, if you’d like.

Ferry Details:

  • Visit gandlferry.com for the current schedule.
  • Fare is $15 USD one way.
  • No reservations are needed—just show up and hop on.
  • The ferry will drop you off at the Guana Cay Settlement.

Once you’re on the ferry, let us know which one you’re on, and we’ll be there to greet you and bring you to Kalopsia.

Prefer something private? You can charter a ferry directly to our dock for a reasonable price. To reserve, call +1 (242) 816-2628.

From the Settlement, go south to the Orchid Bay gate and let them know you are going to Kalopsia. Follow the signs through Orchid Bay then stay on the unpaved road until you see our sign.

Golf Cart Rentals

There are several golf cart rental companies available on Great Guana Cay. Most will deliver your cart directly to the ferry dock. Kalopsia Resort is located about 2 miles from the dock—the last mile is a dirt road and can be a bit rugged. There are no street lights, so we recommend arriving before sunset if possible.

Note: The settlement is just a short golf cart ride from the villas.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

01

Staying Connected

WhatsApp is the preferred way to communicate on the island. It works over Wi-Fi and avoids international charges, so it’s perfect for staying in touch while you’re here. If you plan to use your regular phone service outside of WhatsApp, most U.S. carriers charge around $10 per day—check with your provider before traveling.

02

Money Matters

Most restaurants, shops, and services accept Visa and MasterCard (though AMEX is rarely accepted). However, it’s a good idea to bring some cash for things like taxis, ferry rides, and tips. There are no ATMs on the island, so plan accordingly. Both Bahamian and U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere at a 1:1 value.

03

Don’t Forget Your Passport

All visitors to the Bahamas must have a valid passport. Upon arrival, you’ll need to complete a customs form, which requires the address of your stay. Simply write:

Kalopsia Resort, Great Guana Cay.

04

Island Style

The dress code here is as easygoing as the island itself—think swimsuits, sandals, and breezy clothing. Evenings can bring a light breeze, especially in the winter months, so it’s a good idea to pack a jacket or hoodie just in case.

05

Grocery & Liquor Stores

You’ll find a small grocery store and two liquor stores in the Great Guana settlement. For a wider selection, we recommend stopping in Marsh Harbour on your way to the ferry terminal. There are two large grocery stores and several liquor stores there. Your taxi driver can help you make a quick stop.

With enough notice, Kalopsia can stock your villa with groceries before you arrive. Just let us know in advance!

06

Medical Care

Medical care and pharmacies are limited on the island, so please bring all necessary medications in your carry-on luggage.

Your safety and comfort are important to us—please plan accordingly.
